Best Answer A favorite is Tom Bergin's on Fairfax (just north of San Vicente). Big Irish bar, very popular, can tend to turn into a bit of a meat market on the weekends but great during the week.
The much smaller Molly Mallone's (I think it's on LaBrea) has a big back room for live music and also does open mic in the little bar area.
And there's a very skeevy English pub in Santa Monica... bit of a dive but in a fun way...gah, can't remember the name...
